Hello! We are Y’s English Salon.

About Our School

Y’s English Salon is a new type of English language school located in Higashi ward, Kumamoto, Japan.

Our 90-min. courses, incorporating two essential components, are designed to provide students with sufficient knowledge of English grammar as well as English speaking exercises using real situations and other activities so that they can not only improve speaking skills but also develop critical thinking skills while utilizing grammar knowledge they learn in class.

Why are our courses unique?

In Japan, lessons at English language schools in general focus only on speaking practice with little time allocated for grammar input, while those of juku, cram schools, are input-based with lots of grammar exercises, and no or little time for speaking practice.

After years of teaching experiences, we have come to the conclusion that a balanced lesson consisting of both sufficient grammar input and speaking practice is essential to be able to command English.

Students’ lifestyles and English goals vary, so most of our classes are custom-made in order to bring out our students’ potential in terms of English ability as much as possible.

“Having never learned English before entering junior high school, I first had difficulty in learning the language at school. Gradually, however, I was able to pick up the language and it has become part of my everyday life.

I’m hoping that, by sharing how I learned the language, I can help students improve their English skills and

       enrich their lives!”

"While I was working at a cram school, I gradually got interested in teaching English. I found

it very rewarding when my students, who at first didn't like English, were able to understand the language, and what was more, they

       really enjoyed learning it!

English grammar may look complicated, but actually it's not. When you understand how the language is formed, you'll find answering

English questions on a written test very easy.

Teaching at Y's English Salon, I'm hoping to produce students who will be international-minded and become very active on a

       global stage."
